The American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE) The ABFSE serves as the national academic accreditation agency for college and university programs in Funeral Service and Mortuary Science Education.
Although its roots go back to the 1940's, the ABFSE became an autonomous agency in 1962. The accrediting function of ABFSE is recognized by the US Department of Education and the
Council on Higher Education Accreditation.

ABFSE 62nd Annual Conference Boston, MA April 8-12, 2024
The ABFSE held its 62nd Annual Conference April 10 - 12, 2024 in Boston, Massachusetts. There were many professional development opportunities
and meetings. The opportunity to explore the many exhibits at the tradeshow occurred simultaneously as the 2nd Annual JEPP Corn Hole Tourney. At the
Recognition Luncheon a variety of people were recognized for their service to Funeral Service Education.

Review of Standards

ABFSE engages in a review of the Accreditation Standards every five (5) years. The process, initiated in summer/fall 2022, generated the
recommended changes presented here for comment. ABFSE encourages comments on any aspect of the Accreditation Standards.

The National Scholarship Program of the American Board of Funeral Service Education provides financial awards to students enrolled in funeral service
